The Friends of the Preserve
Because we are a non-profit organization, all donations made to the Friends of the Preserve become a line item within the budget of the City of Mineola, 75-6000612, a municipal government of the State of Texas, making them tax deductable.
The City of Mineola has not provided any service or promised to deliver any goods or services in consideration of receiving this donation.
The Friends of the Preserve, and the City of Mineola, invite you to be a part of the process of development for the preserve. Your donations will help make possible the programs and classes implemented by the Friends and the support we offer to other organizations such as the Master Gardeners, Master Naturalist, the Boy Scouts and many others.
Your membership contributions will work to protect the environment and establish educational and recreational programs that will be available to the community and the surrounding region.
And it’s tax deductable.

Educational opportunities abound as well! All adoptions are renewable annually and include a $25.00 Friend of the Preserve Membership.
Bluebird Box $45.00 By adopting a bluebird box on the Kiwanis Bluebird Trail, the “parent” will have a sense of ownership in the Mineola Nature Preserve and the Transcontinental Bluebird Trail sponsored by the North American Bluebird Society. They will also benefit in the knowledge that they are providing housing to one of the most loved birds in East Texas.
Wood Duck Box $75.00 The nesting success of wood ducks has improved significantly with the introduction of wood duck boxes. Through the adopt-a-box program, we will support this success at the Mineola Nature Preserve.
Barred Owl Nesting Boxes $75.00 The barred owl is one of the more common owls in hardwood forests. Its distinctive “Who-cooks-for-you” call and brown eyes identify it among Texas owls.
